Film reignites 'Da Vinci Code' debate
Christians wrestle with novel's claims

laurence82 SG

Mabbe Dan Brown is a Jew in disguise writing DVC in response to the Passion of Christ?

Ooh, i love a good conspiracy theory

laoda99 SG

Everybody love conspiracy theories!

Mr. Green

laurence82 SG

Thats what make DVC so believable, even if its fake from top to bottom.

Psychologically, people tend to love a conspiracy theory or believe that restricted materials might have a lot of truth in it than easily available materials.

I think the best solution is explaination, not restriction. Besides, I dont agree with the Singapore Council of Churches' view that DVC would denigrate Christianity. If then, how about Jewish protest to POC? Or Prince of Egypt denigration of the ancient Egyptian people. Only lucky thing is that the ancient Egyptians are no longer around, but then, lets not be so unethical.

Laughing

laoda99 SG

Yeah...restricting will let pple say:"WHAT HAVE U GOT TO HIDE?"

My church quite open, we have seminar abt it and a movie outing.

laurence82 SG

THE PHILIPPINE film review board is not banning the showing of Hollywood movie "The Da Vinci Code," but simply giving it a for adults rating, GMA Networks Flash Report said Tuesday.
Saying it sees nothing blasphemous about the film, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) gave it an R-18 rating, or for viewers 18 years old and above.

Icemoon SG

Actually what is so blasphemous about the Da Vinci Code?

If liddat also want to ban, then they're worse than PAP.

Honeybunz SG

Watched that movie.

My advise is... wait for the DVD lah... dun spend money on the movie tickets.
With so much anticipation and stuff... it's not as great as what I thought it would be.

ya... $$$ is the thing.

If it wasn't for $$$, Dan Brown wouldn't write this book. He is smart. Anything that is controversial sure makes money one.

laoda99 SG

it is a flop..........bad acting.....tom hanks...same expression thru out

the bishop....is not convincing....

sophie....hate her accent....

the best is still Silas......haha

movie very unconvincing for some parts, as in the book too...

laoda99 SG

Thru out the Da Vinci code, the Catholic church is the villian, and mary magdalene and cultic gangs are the good guys........no wonder they ask for it to be banned.....

Ironside SG

The Bishops Conference of the Philppines is divided about this issue. some say tht it should be banned. others say that banning it will only tickle the curiosity of the public and patronize the movie instead.

personally i have not watch it yet and i don't have any plans. i think it's a waste of time. i would rather read Church History instead.
just my personal view.
